Let us assume that someone has provided you with an RGB value for a color, and has asked you to add a rectangle of that color to a slide. Then how do you proceed? Before proceeding, make sure you know what RGB colors are, and specifically what the three values: R, G, and B indicate. Once you have these R, G, and B values, you can easily apply that color within PowerPoint. For now, let us imagine that you have the following RGB color values that you need to fill your rectangle with. Follow the steps to learn how to add a rectangle of the color:

  R G B Swatch
Teal 0 128 128

Follow these steps to explore more:

  1. Insert a Rectangle shape on your slide in PowerPoint 2010, as shown in Figure 1.
  2. Rectangle being inserted

  3. Right-click the Rectangle and choose the Format Shape option from the resultant contextual menu, as shown highlighted in red within Figure 2.
  4. Format Shape option within the right-click contextual menu

  11. Change the RGB values to match the RGB values for the color Teal, that you saw within a table previously on this page. In Figure 6 you can see the Colors dialog box with changed RGB values (highlighted in red). Then, click the OK button.

You can follow the above steps to use RGB values everywhere within PowerPoint 2010. Similarly, you can also use HSL values within PowerPoint 2010.
