Google is a web search engine which indexes all sorts of information on the World Wide Web. Search results on Google typically contain results that consist of web pages, images, information and other types of files. What many users don't know is that Google allows you to restrict your search for a particular file type, such as a PowerPoint presentation! In this tutorial, I'll show you how you can search for PowerPoint presentations only using Google's Advanced Search option.

Follow these steps to get started:

  1. Open Google search in your web browser, and choose the Advanced Search option (highlighted in red), as you can see in Figure 1.

  3. Enter the keyword in the "all these words" text field. Under the Need more tools? section, choose the File type drop down menu as shown in Figure 3. Select the Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt) option.

  6. As you can see in Figure 5 above, the search results show only PowerPoint files! These results are based on the keyword(s) you typed.

  7. To download any of the files, click the link to the file. Alternatively, right-click and choose the Save Target As, or similar option. It's a good idea to check any downloaded files for viruses and malware before you open them in PowerPoint!
