The strategy is to gain efficiencies through the use, reuse, updating, sharing, broadcasting, tracking, and analyzing of presentations. Imagine your files created for a single purpose are being leveraged across your entire organization, always with the correct images and content. How much time, money and frustration would that save?

What if you draw a line in PowerPoint that is slanted or sloped? Now, if you want to know the length of this line, you should know that there's no built-in feature within PowerPoint to do so. But, why would you even want to know the size of the line? That’s because you may have to create multiple diagonal lines and the second line may need to be exactly half the length of the first line. There may be any number of other reasons why you need to draw other shapes that are proportional, relative to this line.

In a job interview, however relevant your experience and skills are, a lot will depend on how you present yourself. At one point in my career, I was having great difficulty getting the new job that I really wanted. I joined my local Toastmasters club as I thought that improving my public speaking skills would build my confidence and help with my interviews. In the process, I realized that presenting yourself at an interview is a form of public speaking. What I learned, helped me to get the role I wanted.

It is fairly easy to flip a picture on your slide. However, this flipping can be a little tricky when the same picture is used as a fill for a shape. That’s because you end up with a picture that does get flipped, but so does the shape. But what if we wanted to just flip the picture? How do you achieve that result?

Swimming coaches step students through the component skills in progressive stages. The first lesson takes place out of the water, at the side of a pool, where the novice learns how to do the arm strokes and the leg strokes separately. Then the novice gets into the shallow end of the pool and practices the arm strokes and leg strokes, still separately, but now with training equipment—flotation devices, kickboards, and the rungs of a pool ladder. The fundamental aspect of this approach is to deconstruct the basics and reconstruct them progressively. It works in swimming—as it does in all sports—and it works in presentations as well.
