The three basic animation types in PowerPoint: entrance, emphasis, and exit animations are something we have already explored. The fourth animation type is called Motion Path animations, and this is something more advanced in nature than the basic animation types explored so far. Motion Path animations determine the route (path) and the direction in which the animated slide object moves across or around on the slide. For example, you can move a slide object up, down, right, or left, on a preset or created motion path, or possibly anywhere you want.

After you add an animation to a selected slide object, you typically set an animation event. Another animation property you can set thereafter is the speed of the animation. Every animation you add within PowerPoint 2016 has a fixed, default speed. This speed essentially is a duration shown in seconds or part thereof and differs from animation to animation. For example, the default duration of a Fade animation is half a second (00.50) whereas for the Wheel animation, it is two seconds (02.00).

We first look at how insecure a slide can make people! Is that because as human beings, we like to believe we are perfect and always look out for excuses that may cover our mistakes? Also, do we use PowerPoint exactly the same way as we use Word or Excel? Is that the reason why people end up with dumb slides? We look at this aspect too. Once you add an animation to any slide object, you can play the animation in Slide Show view by clicking your mouse cursor or pressing the spacebar on your keyboard. Another option is to use a button on a presentation remote. Each of these options advances one animation at a time, or may even take you to the subsequent slide. However, if you add that many animations to any slide, you probably want your animations to be automatically sequenced and play one after the other without a click, and that's exactly where PowerPoint's animation events can help.

By default, animation effects are numbered in the order in which they are applied to slide objects. You might need to reorder your animations mainly because you may have more than one animated object on a slide, and re-sequencing of animations as they happen in relation to each other may provide a better result. Or you may just want some animations to happen before other animations. Also, there are logical reasons to reorder animations since typically entrance and exit animations need to be the first and last animations for any slide object. PowerPoint's Reorder option for animations lets you play with their sequencing.

Exit animation effects determine how animated slide objects leave the Slide Area. For example, a slide object can fade or fly out the screen area, or use any of the many other Exit animation effects available within PowerPoint. Typical Exit Effect animations include Disappear, in which an object just vanishes or Float Down, in which slide object mimics the setting sun. You can also apply Exit Effects to text objects so that words Spiral out of the slide. There are plenty of Exit Effect animations that PowerPoint provides. However, make sure you use animation sparingly to emphasize rather than to distract.

Emphasis animation effects determine how the slide object calls attention to itself while it is on-the-slide. Entrance and Exit effect animations allow a slide object to enter or exit the Slide Area, whereas slide objects with Emphasis Effect animations are already there on the slide area before they start animating, and will be there even after they have finished animating.

Guides in PowerPoint allow you to position and snap your slide objects in place. For most professional slide designers, creating slides without guides would be very worrisome! When guides are enabled for the first time within PowerPoint, you can just see two guides. These guides are two dotted lines, one horizontal and the other vertical. They span to intersect exactly at the center of the slide.

Office 365 is Microsoft’s cloud-based subscription offering that lets you run always upgraded and updated Office applications on the desktop, on tablets and smartphones—and also online. This Office 365 product differs from the perpetual versions of Office. Significantly, some Office 365 plans also include extra niceties like a subscription to the Skype for Business web conferencing tool, hosted email via Microsoft’s Exchange Online, online storage through OneDrive, plus phone talk time via Skype.

Many bad presentations are a result of not using PowerPoint as a slide creation tool at all. Does that sound like a cryptic statement? Then let me encrypt it for you: many PowerPoint users just think of PowerPoint as an extension to Word and Excel, the other program that Microsoft included free of cost in the Office box.
It gets worse. Not only do some users believe that PowerPoint is like Word or Excel, they even use it that way. Imagine approaching PowerPoint with a Word or Excel approach? Since Microsoft has kept the interface in all these three programs so similar, Word and Excel users are comfortable with PowerPoint from the minute they start using it. In fact, some of them don’t even notice that they are not using Word or Excel!

Among several types of animations that PowerPoint 2016 provides, Entrance effects are probably the most popular. By applying Entrance animation effects, you can make your slide objects appear on the slide almost magically! You make them appear in the fraction of a second, or get them to fly in from any direction. You can also do a zoom in, or even better, just make it subtle with a simple fade in. Whichever Entrance animation effect you choose, make sure to go for something that is in sync with the subject of your presentation. Most of the time, Appear, Fade, or Wipe effects work the best.
