We teach you how you can create outlines in Word 2013, and then import the outline content as new slides within PowerPoint. Creating outlines for PowerPoint in various external applications lets you stay away from distractions in PowerPoint-land and concentrate on the structure of your slides rather than their appearance. An outline encompasses the text content within your presentation slides. In some ways, this text is the story of your presentation. In a less poetic description, you may just describe the outline as the sequential structure of text content that you use in a presentation. The terms Header and Footer arrived from the word processing programs. These denote repeated elements that show at the top and bottom of every page. Headers and Footers are different from each other on PowerPoint slides only considering their position -- the Footer is a line of text that usually appears at the bottom of a slide.

Let's start with the basics -- what are Guides? Consider Guides as a Grid on your slide that you create -- each single Guide can be moved, added, or deleted. Guides also have snap options that are always on -- once the Guides are made visible on the slide, all objects that venture close enough to them just snap. Along with Rulers and Gridlines, Guides help you position your slide objects with more precision, and you can make them work for you using techniques explained on this page.
