Dynamic Content Transitions in PowerPoint 2010 for Windows

Dynamic Content transitions are new transition effects in PowerPoint 2010. When these transitions are applied to your slide, the actual transition occurs on all areas of the slide except the backgrounds. This makes your content move independently on and off the screen. PowerPoint 2010 for Windows provides seven different transition effects within the Dynamic Content category. Do experiment with these options for direction and timing to create some great looking presentations.

Open any presentation that already has a few slides of content. It is helpful if your slides have a background that's not just a solid color, as in the example slides you see later in Figure 1 on this page.

Follow these steps to add Dynamic Content transitions to one or more slides in PowerPoint 2010 for Windows:

1. Navigate to the slide to which you want to add a dynamic transition. If you want to add a similar transition effect to more than one slide, access PowerPoint's Slide Sorter view and select the slides you need, as shown in Figure 1, below.

2. Access the Transitions tab of the Ribbon, and click the down-arrow, as shown highlighted in red within Figure 2 below, within the Transition to This Slide group.

3. Doing so will bring up a drop-down gallery, as shown in Figure 3, below. Locate the Dynamic Content category, as shown highlighted in red within Figure 3, and select any transition effect within this category.

4. As you select the transition effect within this gallery, you will see a Live Preview of the transition on the active slide (this preview looks better in the Normal view rather than Slide Sorter view). 5. If you want to add the same transition effect to all slides in your presentation (as opposed to just the active or selected slides), then click the Apply To All button located within the Transitions tab, as shown highlighted in red within Figure 4, below.

6. Save and play your presentation. The sample presentation embedded below shows sample slides applied with all seven Dynamic Transition effects: Pan, Ferris Wheel, Conveyor, Rotate, Window, Orbit, and Fly Through.
