Noise Buster

Introduction

NoiseBuster is a Photoshop plug-in from AKVIS that reduces luminance and color noise from digital images without influencing other aspects of the photo, thus providing a much neater look to the image.

NoiseBuster is from AKVIS, a company based in Russia that specializes in graphics programs and scientific research. Apart from NoiseBuster, AKVIS also creates other Photoshop-compatible programs like Retoucher, Chameleon, Stamp and Enhancer.

How To Use

Once you have installed the plug-in. Here's how you can use Noise Buster to remove noise from an image:

1. Open any image in an image editor such as Adobe Photoshop.
2. In Photoshop, choose the Filter | Akvis | Noise Buster option. Doing so opens the Noise Buster interface that you can see in Figure 1, below.

3. The Noise Buster interface is divided into two areas:
4. The left area shows a large preview of the image. The selection area within this preview shows the applied effect.
5. The right area has a Navigator to adjust views. In addition, the Automatic Filtering option allows you to preview the filtration on the left side of the interface.
6. At the bottom right, there are several parameters to reduce noise and smoothen the image like luminance, noise, and color noise.
4. To apply filtration within the plug-in press the Apply button.

6. And to apply the filtration to the entire picture within Photoshop (or another photo editor), click the OK button.
